Miss Personality

Who died?

A couple of nights ago, I warmed up some leftovers for dinner, plopped them down in front of the family, and Trevin asked, "Who died?"

Some of you will get this, some of you won't :)

In my defense, that is risotto, not potatoes!!!

DEX is 4!

This is a VERY late post, but this is Dex's 4 year old photo shoot. He will pull every face but a smile these dates. Regardless, these turned out pretty cute! Cross-eyed is my personal favorite.

Mountain Green Moonlight Snowshoe Dates!

I’ve been studying lunar phases with all of my extra time between kids, laundry, cleaning, working, etc. and think I have a good idea of the best time to be in the mountains after dark.

If you are not familiar with snowshoeing, here are a few tips. For those of you who are experienced, please comment with any more ideas/tips.

First, if you don’t have snowshoes, don’t let that stop you. Call me and I’ll find you a pair. You will need warm snowboots or possibly hiking boot.

Second, if you would like to purchase snowshoes, keep in mind the terrain that you will use them for. If you join the Mountain Green Moonlight Snowshoe (MGMS) club (maybe we need a contest to come up with a name for ourselves), we will be mostly traveling on packed trails. If you come sometime with my husband and me, we venture off the beaten path into powder. Powder snowshoes are quite uncomfortable on packed
trails.

Here is a link to a good fitness snowshoe, but this is a pricey place to buy them. I think about $70 or less would buy a good shoe. Ebay would probably have great used snowshoes from people who thought they would like it and then just used them to collect dust.

We have Tubbs, Redfeather, and LLBean and like all of the brands. Avery and Dex even have snowshoes.

Third, originally this was a ladies-only venture so that someone stayed home with the kids. But if you are scared of mountain lions (and you know who you are!), bring your big, strong husband along. He is welcome. However, if he can’t come, just remember that you only have to be a faster runner than the slowest person in the group.

Fourth, come no matter what shape you are in! This is a chance to socialize and experience the great outdoors by moonlight.

Lastly, BRING A FRIEND. The more the merrier.

Leave me a comment if you want date and time information and I'll get back with you.

Color or BW?

I love classic b and w, but this color is fun? What do you think? BTW, these are some of Maddie's 1 year old photos. Isn't she yummy? ;)

Maddie's 1st Birthday

I think we may have piggy germs around here! Even baby Maddie was so sick on her 1st birthday. You know I'm sick when I don't even take one single picture of the big day. Today I told Dexter, "I'm gonna croak!" And he immediately responded, "I want a rootbeer!" Get it? (I wanna Coke!) Since we didn't do much celebrating and probably will cancel her birthday party tomorrow, here's a short (well, not that short) movie to celebrate her first year of life. She is such a sweet girl. We LOVE having her in our family.

Look for some party photos soon. What's truly amazing about this movie is how much cold and flu medication I had in me at the time I compiled it ;)

Sorry I can't get the music to work... copyright smopyright :( You'll just have to imagine. The music IS quite stunning.

LOCOJA

LOCOJA... Ha! Get it. These guys are a little loco. At the last minute Team Insight decided to ride 206 miles solo instead of in their initially-intended relay fashion. They did great! And, at the end of the day, I think the support team was more exhausted than the riders.

Sweet & Sour... I mean Sassy!!!

I've been staring at the computer monitor for so long tonight that I think I've officially burned my retina (lol, although technically that wouldn't really be a laughing matter.) I guess I will have to have a Saturday morning consult from Dr. T. Regardless, I think it was worth it, because I've been having a blast playing around with these fun photos of Avery. This was our official 7 year old photo shoot. Our neighbor was kind enough to let us make lemonade in her beautiful vintage-styled kitchen.

Sometimes I "miss the moment" because I'm so busy trying to capture it. I just want to freeze in time the innocence, curiosity, sweetness, even mischievousness of these little ones. I do hope, in all of their sweetness, they sleep in a little in the morning because it is really, really late and I'm signing off now!!!

Lake Powell 2009

This is for Lynn. We wish you could have been there. Sorry, I haven't figured out you tube yet so the quality is bad.

Cherrios

Maddie would eat an entire box of cherrios everyday if we would let her.

Photography Mentoring Class

One of the highlights of my summer was a photography class I took in SLC. I think I learned a lot there. Disclaimer: I know that Maddie's nose is gross in this photo and her eyes are sad. She had pink eye and a terrible cold. However, it's the edit that I was interested in here. So you be the judge. Do you think the class was worth it?

The 1st photo was straight out of the camera and the following photos were slightly edited.

Where oh where has the novelty gone?

Blog updating is becoming more of a chore than fun. But after spending a morning blog surfing around friends' and families' updates, it appears as if my blogging skills are inferior. Plus, we have a big trip to Lake Powell next week and Maddie is staying home. So I will probably have a little extra time behind the camera with lots of photos that I will want to post. As to not get too far behind, here's a brief yet complete capture of our summer so far.

Since Maddie started crawling, I feel like I am going crazy. I need an extra day of the week, Fraturday!

Family Reunions
A photo mentoring class
A trip to St. George
Several cabin trips
Lots and lots and lots of swimming
Dido on the boating
Baby with Roseola and teething (at the same time nonetheless)

Wallin Poetry

I've been working on this for a while...

Avery's last day of school....

Dexter is cool....

Maddie's first splash in the pool...

Trevin is ....hmmm ... a fool...

Courtney refurbished an old stool.... shhhh... It's for my dad for father's day.

Everyone in my family is really tired of me clicking photos all day so I guess I'll start capturing the inanimate objects around the house :)
